However, the notable absence of the United States and the United Kingdom among the signatories of the final declaration underscores the persistent challenges for unified global AI governance. Despite these divergences, the commitment of 61 countries, including France, China and India, testifies to a collective will to develop technologies that respect human rights and the environment. The initiatives launched, such as the “Current AI” platform and the Observatory on the Energy Impact of AI, illustrate a proactive approach to framing the development of AI. Nevertheless, the United States’ warning against “excessive regulation” is a reminder of the need to strike a balance between technological innovation and regulation to avoid market concentration and ensure fair accessibility of AI advances. This summit thus underlines the importance of enhanced international cooperation to harmonize efforts and build artificial intelligence that truly serves humanity.
